TECHNIQUES

WIXÁRIKA

Originally from the community of San Andrés Cohamiata.

This Huichol collection represents Wixárika symbols mainly the Peyote plant which is a small and spineless cactus that causes vivid hallucinations due to the mescaline.

This component makes peyote the center of some religious rituals but especially the center of our first collection. Go to explore the store and meet our collection, and observe all the colors and shapes there are.  You will hallucinate!

An element that distinguishes the Wixárikas and can’t be missing from their clothing is the ktsiuri, a very characteristic backpack that they always carry diagonally crossed, made out of blanket or wool, showing representations of flora or fauna characteristic of their region. There are different backpack designs, according to the community.

JALISCO

SAN ANDRÉS COHAMIATA

The Huichol region is housed in one of the most isolated areas of Mexico. Composed of 4 states: Jalisco, Nayarit, Zacatecas and Durango.

The Huichol villages belong to different municipalities, and their communities are far scattered. The Huichol territory covers almost 10,000 km2.

Some of its inhabitants work in agriculture, livestock, and the beautiful elaboration of handicrafts.

Look how mind-blowing the colors of these pieces are and take a part of them with you!
